Whenever we talk about the gold stripes and wheels over black paint, we recall Screaming Chicken on the Pontiac Trans Am, Golden Eagle edition Jeeps, and Lotus' John Player racing livery. Now BMW wants a piece of that '70s glory.
The All-new Machine Relives in Golden Glory:
Dubbed Golden Thunder, this fantastic version comes with gold accents on the body and high-gloss black trim over a choice of Frozen black metallic or Sapphire black body color. The 20-inch wheels receive some golden treatment while the calipers are finished in black. The gold theme continues in the mirror caps and even the spoiler lip on the trunk lid, beefing up all the side skirts' components to the rear bumper.
Introduced in All Three Body Styles:
The BMW 8 Series Golden Thunder has been introduced and for all three body styles of the model. According to BMW Service Greensboro NC, the company may pick this new special edition model either for the BMW 8 Series Coupe, Convertible, or even the Gran Coupe version. It will go into production in September 2020.
Amazing Interior:
The gold extends to the cabin, though in a slightly more restrained manner. The seats look gorgeous in Merino black leather. The center console surface is treated to a vaguely gold-like aluminum trim. The headrests include the lettering "Edition Golden Thunder," even though Golden Thunder Edition would sound a little more natural. Perhaps something went missing in the translation from the German.
BMW has refrained from adding sexy carpeting or polyester trim. However, these items could be special-ordered from BMW individuals – thanks to the in-house bespoke division brought in this special edition.
More Power to the 8-Series Version:
The Golden Thunder package is prepared for all 8-Series versions, but it won't cover any hood scoops or a bump in power. Still, that's not something missing in the 8-Series range by any means, with the M850i Gran Coupe cranking up 523 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque. It's not pretty clear though if this color combo works for the coupe or the sedan, but traditionally coupes have brought about the look better.
Overall the car looks impressive. To keep the vehicle in excellent working condition, bring it in for BMW repair Greensboro.
